Brad Pitt Movies in The Last Two Decades

Brad Pitt, the veritable Hollywood hunk, started his career in film in the late 1980's with a few unaccredited parts in low budget movies. All that changed in 1991 with the release of the popular Thelma and Louise crime spree movie in which Brad bares his bod, and becomes a hot commodity in Hollywood.

Although early in his career, he occasionally starred in various TV episodes (including the hit TV soap opera Another World) and films on the big screen, Brad Pitt movies have become a somewhat semi-annual event. In the last several years Brad has starred in or produced at least 2 movies per year.

Those movies have all fared well in the last 6 years, aside from 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' (2007), (where Brad Pitt takes the lead role of Jesse James), Every Brad Pitt movie showed a worldwide gross of over $100 million.

From the release of Ocean's Eleven in 2001, Brad Pitt movies suffered a dry spell until the 2005 release of Troy in which Brad played the lead role of Achilles. Even though the budget was nearly $200 million, Troy was able to produce a worldwide gross of over $495 million.

Of the more than 35 Brad Pitt movies, in the last two decades, the total worldwide gross was well over $4.5 Billion. The overall average gross for Brad Pitt movies is somewhere in the neighborhood of $54 million. That figure has certainly helped Brad Pitt command a higher price for starring on the big screen.

Steven Soderbergh has directed four Brad Pitt movies in the last decade, including the 'Ocean's' trilogy, and 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind'.

The latest Brad Pitt movie, 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' (released on Dec 25, 2008) has already grossed over $100 million and received 13 Oscar nominations. Another recent Brad Pitt movie that has prospered was the September 2008 release of 'Burn after Reading'.

Brad has filled his schedule for the next 3 years with 6 projects in the works. These future Brad Pitt movies include The Odyssey (2012), Moneyball (2011), The Sparrow (2010), The Lost City of Z (2010), Inglorious Bastards (2009), and The Tree of Life (2009).

From non-credited and cameo parts in low budget movies to blockbuster hits worldwide, Brad Pitt has proven his inherent ability to not only star, but also produce some of the most popular big screen movies in the last decade.
